Beach Vacation

Do you ever go to the beach and feel your mood change? Like all your worries go away when your feet touch the soft sand and when you feel the wind gently push you away from your past?

In the morning, I woke up with a lot of self-doubt. Sometimes, I get in my own head and forget the present moment. I nearly missed how calming the waves were, how quiet the beach appeared, how the sun came out after days of hiding behind the clouds and how lucky I was to even be on vacation (given that I go to the beach once or twice a year).

When I realized that worrying might not help me and will make me miss out on having fun at the beach, I decided to stow away those feelings for a bit and enjoy the present moment.

Something I’ve been trying to do is meditation – it’s not easy at all for me, but it is very rewarding when practiced regularly.

I like to do deep breathing as well, where I feel only my breaths and nothing else. It keeps me centered and brings me gently back to reality with a bit clarity on what I need to do to be happy and at peace.

I’ve come to realize that in the moments of self-doubt, distracting myself from the issue(s) and telling myself to do the best that I can for today really help. Life isn’t worth doubting yourself and believing you are not capable of doing something…because everything is possible if you just try and don’t think about the outcome.

I decided to bring this dress to Corolla, NC, to see if I could magically make it work for the beach. Though I wore jeans and a white shirt for the family beach pics, I packed this dress in my bag to change into afterwards.

The cool part of this dress is that it is convertible – meaning, you can wear it in many ways and adjust it to your liking. I got excited after seeing this on Amazon and thought it would be cute to wear when dining.

The material of the dress is so soft and comfortable, and the beige color works for many occasions; I styled this dress to be one-sided and tightened the straps around my waist.

I also paired the dress with some of my favorite jewelry to give it some drama and elegance.
